Oak Glen

For the past several years, it has been a fall tradition for our family and a few of our best friends to spend some time in Oak Glen.  We really enjoy getting to relax and have a picnic lunch under the trees, play a little flag football, pick apples, eat carmel apples, walk around downtown, and just take in the beauty of the area.  Due to an unexpected event, we didn't fit all of those things in, but we definitely enjoyed ourselves.  Unfortunately, I didn't do a very good job of taking pictures of the whole group, so I am missing a few people in these pictures.

Last year, I was pregnant when we went to Oak Glen and I remember thinking about how fun it would be to take our baby with us the following year.   As this is the time of year to remember what you are thankful for, I must say, we definitely are thankful for our little pumpkin;)

Hudson: "Mom, I'll take this one"

The Brown Family

After we had breakfast with the Browns on our last morning in Napa, we took them outside to snap a few quick pictures.  They are a beautiful family and little Brookie was such a good sport especially since we were shooting right at her nap time. We really appreciate their friendship and we wish they lived closer!

Napa - Part 2

Since we were already in Napa for a wedding, we decided to take a few extra days to vacation there. While we were there we ate tons of amazing food!  I often needed a translator to understand what food I was ordering.  The picture below is of a fish we ordered and it came with the head and bones (sick!).  The server took care of removing the gross part and afterwards I must say the fish was quite delicious.

We went to the restaurant where the famous cook, Michael Chiarello is both the owner and the chef.  While we had lunch he actually came out, so of course, we had to get a picture with him.

The three of us eating more food;)

We had such a great time with my dad and step mom.
It was fun watching them get a concentrated amount of time with Hudson.

It is obvious my dad loves being a grandpa:

We spent time just walking through the beautiful neighborhoods and the adorable downtown areas.  I definitely think I could live there.

We took a gondola ride up to the top of a mountain area where we had a tour of a beautiful vineyard.
The view from up top was absolutely amazing.

Entering the castle we took a tour of:

Outside of the castle we had a chance to practice with our camera.

Travis and Hudson outside of one of the vineyards.

The last morning we were there our friends, Tim and Shannon and their daughter Brooke, came to meet us for breakfast.  We really only get to see them when they come down to So Cal to visit family.  They only live about 30 minutes from Napa, so it was a real treat to get to spend time with them.

Travis took this picture of me at a rest stop on our way home.
The sunset was so beautiful and he wanted to take a few shots with the amazing lighting.

Little Hudson in his car seat.

Altogether, the trip was such a refreshing time with family and friends.  I told Travis I think a fall trip to Napa should be a tradition for our family (who wouldn't want to have that tradition).  I'm not sure of how realistic that will be, but it is definitely a trip we want to do again.
